1. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files — or, for some of what’s described below, small entries in your browser’s local storage — saved on your device when you visit a website. They let a site remember things about your visit: preferences, session state, or, in the case of analytics, that you’ve visited before.
2. Essential Storage
These aren’t third-party cookies — they’re small values the site itself stores in your browser to remember your choices. You can’t opt out of these individually since they don’t track you; they just hold your own preferences.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
wsit_lang | Remembers your chosen language | Until you clear it |
wsit_theme | Remembers your chosen light/dark mode | Until you clear it |
3. Analytics Cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used. This sets the following cookies:
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes unique visitors | Up to 2 years |
_ga_* | Persists session state for this property | Up to 2 years |
_gid | Distinguishes visitors within a 24-hour window | 24 hours |
This data is aggregated and used to understand traffic and usage patterns — it doesn’t identify you individually to us. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or any ad network.
4. Managing Your Preferences
You can control cookies through your browser settings at any time:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Cookies and website data.
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
To specifically opt out of Google Analytics, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Blocking cookies entirely won’t break the core identification tool, but it will reset your saved language and theme preference each visit.
We do not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, since there’s no standardized way for sites to interpret them yet.
5. Changes
If the cookies we use change — a new analytics tool, for instance — this page will be updated and the date above will change.
