What actually affects accuracy
Three things make the biggest difference:
Clip length
Ten to fifteen seconds is usually enough. You don’t need the whole song.
Background noise
The quieter the room, the cleaner the fingerprint.
Which part you capture
The chorus is usually more distinctive than the intro.
Sometimes the answer isn’t “no.” It’s “not yet.”
Usually it’s one of a few things:
Too much noise around it
A crowded room competes with the melody.
Too short a clip
A couple of seconds rarely gives us enough to work with.
A cover, or unreleased
We match against released recordings.
It’s brand new
Very recent releases can take a little while to enter the catalog. If it just came out, give it a day or two and try again.
Try a longer clip, cut the background noise where you can, and capture the chorus instead of the intro, since it’s usually more distinctive. The cleaner the recording, the better the fingerprint.
